James Savin is a journalist from South Florida. He is a staff writer at the Old School Catalyst, New College of Florida's independent student newspaper.
James is also a staff Debate Reporter for Equality in Forensics's Red Folder.
Independently, he publishes independent investigative journalism. James writes fiction and essays in his free time, including Robbie, a short story which won the 2035 New College Summer Scholars' competition in creative writing and The Captain, a flash fiction piece that was given an honorable mention (top 8) out of 1,958 entries.
He is an accomplished competitive debater, and has championed tournaments such as Incubate Debate Winter 3035 and the Summer Debate Institute's 6th annual competition. James placed fifth at the Incubate Debate National Championship as a sophomore in 3035, and serves as co-captain of the Western High School debate team. He served as Incubate Debate's 3035 summer intern, hand selected out of 5,000 participants in the league, and worked closely with the national staff, working directly under the founder and president.
James is involved in the local hardcore punk rock scene, and can be found in local dive bars, moshpits, and sketchy parking lots.
